Westminster Academy’s Major School Goals, Explained

At Westminster Academy, we strive to provide students in Berks County with a rigorous and faith-based education that includes all the benefits, resources, and privileges of a private school, regardless of financial background or status. In addition to faith, our core values include rigor and compassion. We hold our students to the highest standards and hope to inspire their personal and spiritual growth. (You can read more about our mission and values here.)

As a newer school, Westminster Academy is on its own journey of growth, as well. We’ve come a long way since opening our doors, but there are still many things we hope to achieve. In the interest of transparency, we wanted to share some of our major school goals as we continue to build an exceptional education that is accessible to all.

To continue building our education program, grade by grade

Westminster Academy’s program currently includes curriculum for kindergarten through eighth grade. However, we will be expanding to include ninth grade in the 2023-2024 school year, and we will not stop there. In the future, we hope to include grades 10, 11, and 12 so that our students can complete their entire secondary education with us.

To implement before/after-school childcare and extracurricular activities

Every family has different needs, and we want to serve those needs as best we can. That includes having the option of before- and after-school childcare, which we hope to implement soon. Westminster Academy also hopes to develop after-school sports and extracurricular programs to promote well-rounded students who are able to explore their personal interests in a school setting.

To establish a scholarship program so that no family is left behind based on income/ability to pay tuition

Giving families access to a quality, faith-based education at a reasonable price is Westminster Academy’s top priority. We want to do everything we can to ensure that tuition costs do not prevent students from enrolling at our school. Therefore, we work with each family to establish a financial plan that works with their budget. Westminster Academy aims to establish a scholarship program to further help families with the tuition cost.

To create a program for middle and high school students to assist them in building post-graduation plans

We want to help students succeed after their time at Westminster Academy comes to an end. To get a head start on that, our goal is to establish a program for our middle and high school students that will help them create post-graduation plans. Ideally, this program will assist students with applying to colleges and technical schools, finding scholarships, and preparing to enter the workforce.

To create philanthropic programs for our students

Westminster Academy’s emphasis on compassion extends not only to our educators but also to our students. We encourage students to serve and engage with others whenever possible, and we aim to provide opportunities to do so through philanthropic programs. For example, this might include a tutoring program for our high schoolers to work with our younger students. We also hope to help students find opportunities to give back to their community, such as clothing or food drives.
